Nafplion

Nafplio or Nafplion was the first capital of modern Greece before Athens. It is a magical, city with a cosmopolitan feel to it and it attracts visits all year round. Nafplion has a rich history and many monuments, castles, museums and historical buildings to see.

Visit for example: Palamidi Castle, Bourtzi Castle, Acronafplia, Land Gate, First Parliament, First High School, Arsenal, Bavarian Lion, Syntagma Square, St Spyridon Church, Courthouse, Trianon, Pronoia, Arvanitia Walk, Ancient Tiryns, the Archaeological Museum, the Folklore Museum, the Military Museum, the Toy Museum, the Ouzo Museum & the Worry Bead Museum.

There are two beaches both of which are well worth visiting, Karathona beach and Arvanitia beach (the town's peoples beach).

The quaint, narrow streets of the old town have many cafes bars and tavernas along with gift shops under the overhanging balconies left over from the Venetian rule. Many conquerers have left their mark in Nafplion which is evident in the different building architecture etc.

Nafplion is a 'must' to visit during your holiday in Tolo.

Argolida & the Peloponnese

Tolo is located in the Argolida prefecture of the Peloponnese peninsula which is separated from the rest of the mainland of Greece by the Corinth Canal.

The Peloponnese is steeped in history from all ages, ancient and modern and has a wide diversity of landscapes. There are high mountains right down the middle where skiing is possible during the winter months and unique ecological systems exist. The coast around the Peloponnese is vast and filled with beaches and small coves. Basically there is a different landscape around evey corner.

Visit such archaeological sites as Ancient Mycenae (30 mins), the Ancient Theatre of Epidavros (30 mins), Ancient Nemea (40 mins), Ancient Corinth (50 mins), Acrocorinth (50 mins), the Corinth Canal (45 mins), Olympia (3 hours), Monemvasia (3.5 hours), Sparta (2 hours), Mystras (2 hours) to name but a few. The mountain ranges of Ziria, Taygetos & Parnona, the charming and traditional villages dotted all over the area and soak in the real Greece!
